Connect Slack (Admins)

For org admins: connect a Slack workspace, approve the channels MX can use, pair teammates, and turn MX off when you need to. All of this lives on the org admin Integrations page.

Install MX to your workspace

1. Open Org Admin in the sidebar, then Integrations.
2. Under Org-wide access, turn on the Slack toggle. This allows org members to use @MX in Slack.
3. In Slack workspaces, click Add to Slack. You are taken to Slack to approve the install, then returned to MX.

Once connected, the workspace shows as connected in the table. An org can connect more than one workspace. A given Slack workspace can only be linked to one MX organization at a time.

Approve channels

MX does nothing in a channel until you approve it. In Slack channels:

1. Click Sync channels to load the workspace’s channels. The list fills in as channels load.
2. Use the search box and the view menu (Available channels, Active (approved), All incl. archived) to find a channel.
3. Click Approve on a channel to have MX join it.
4. Optional: pick a brand in the Brand column so MX defaults to that brand in the channel.
5. Use the capability switches to control what MX does there:
   • Answer - MX replies when someone tags @MX in the channel.
   • Follow - MX keeps replying in threads it has joined without another mention.
6. Click Decline to remove MX from a channel.

Some channels cannot be approved: archived and deleted channels, and channels shared with an outside workspace (Slack Connect) are blocked. If MX shows Approved - rejoin needed, click Rejoin to put MX back in the channel.

Note

Externally shared (Slack Connect) channels are always blocked to prevent sharing across organizations, even by an admin.

Link teammates

MX links each person’s Slack account to their MX account by email automatically. When someone’s Slack and MX emails differ, pair them by hand in Slack user pairing:

1. Find the person under Unpaired Slack users. The Reason column tells you why they were not matched automatically.
2. Choose their MX member from the dropdown and click Pair.
3. To undo a pairing, find them under Linked users and click Unlink.

Turn it off

You have two levels of control:

• Pause one workspace - in Slack workspaces, flip the Paused switch for that workspace. MX stops responding there immediately, and in-flight replies stop. Flip it back to resume. Pausing stays in effect even if the workspace is reinstalled.
• Disconnect a workspace - click Disconnect to revoke MX’s access entirely. Reconnecting requires a fresh install from Slack.
• Turn Slack off for the org - flip the Slack toggle off under Org-wide access to disable @MX everywhere.
