Use MX in Slack

Talk to MX from Slack the same way you would in the app. Mention @MX in an approved channel, send it a direct message, and share images for it to work with.

Once an org admin connects your Slack workspace and turns MX on, you can reach the same MX assistant without leaving Slack. MX uses your brands, knowledge, and tools just like it does in the app. In channels it works from what it can read in the conversation; in a direct message it has more room to help.

In a channel where an admin has approved MX, type @MX followed by your question or request. MX replies in a thread under your message, so the conversation stays tidy and out of the main channel. Keep talking in that thread and MX follows along.

If nothing happens when you mention MX, the channel probably has not been approved yet. Ask your org admin to approve it.

Open a direct message with MX and type as you normally would - no @MX needed. DMs are private to you, and MX can do more here than in a channel because the whole conversation is yours.

Attach an image to your message and MX can look at it. This works for mentions in a channel thread and in a direct message. If an image cannot be read (for example an unusual file type), MX tells you in its reply.

MX links your Slack account to your MX account by email. When the email on your Slack profile matches your MX email, MX knows who you are automatically and works with the brands and knowledge you have access to.

If your Slack and MX emails are different, an org admin can pair your accounts by hand. Until you are linked, MX cannot act as you.
