Create a flow

A flow is a multi-message sequence you plan and write in MX. This page covers what flows are, how to create one from a template, and how to find flows later.

A flow is a sequence of emails and SMS messages built around a customer action. You design the sequence on the canvas and write the copy for each message - a new subscriber gets a welcome series, a shopper who left items behind gets a cart reminder, and so on. MX builds the flow content; the sending happens in Klaviyo (or your integrated ESP), where the trigger and timing live.

Each flow lives inside a brand, so it speaks in that brand’s voice. If you have not set up a brand yet, start with Create a brand.

  1. Go to Flows and click New Flow.
  2. Pick a starting point from the template grid. This is required.
  3. (Optional) Set a Flow Title. Leave it blank and a title is generated from your template and brand.
  4. Click Create Flow.

The flow opens on the canvas, pre-built with the nodes for your chosen template.

Each template scaffolds a starting set of nodes for a common automation. Pick the one closest to your goal - you can add, remove, and reorder nodes afterward.
