Chat
Chat is where you work with the MX assistant. Ask for copy, briefs, or edits, attach files for context, and watch drafts open in a panel right beside the conversation.
Start a chat
Section titled “Start a chat”Open Chat from the sidebar. With a brand in scope, pick a lane (a purpose like a chat type) from the cards on the welcome screen, or start typing in the message box at the bottom. Your first message creates the chat.
If no brand is selected, the empty state prompts you to Select a brand before sending a message.
The message box
Section titled “The message box”The message box is the input at the bottom of the chat.
- Attach file: opens a menu with Upload from computer and, when a brand is active, Attach from brand. You can also drag files onto the message box or paste an image straight in.
- Purpose: the purpose picker sets what kind of help you want (for example a writing lane versus a research lane). Change it any time before you send.
- Send message / Stop generation: the primary button sends your message. While the assistant is replying, the same button becomes Stop generation so you can end the response early.
Press Enter to send. The placeholder reminds you that typing / opens your prompt library.
Brand context
Section titled “Brand context”Chat works against your active brand. The active brand’s name shows in the message box next to the purpose picker, so you always know which brand the assistant is writing for. Switch brands from the brand switcher and the chat picks up the new brand’s context.
The active brand decides what the assistant can reach: that brand’s knowledge, profile, documents, campaigns, flows, and Klaviyo data, including PDFs you attach, whose text is read in the brand’s context.
Activity panel
Section titled “Activity panel”The Activity panel beside the chat tracks what happens in the conversation. It shows No activity yet until there is something to display, then fills in as things happen:
- Subagents - a row for each agent run started in the chat, with a status (Running, Completed, Stopped, or Needs attention). Select a run to see its final output and a step-by-step list of the work it did.
- Created items - documents, campaigns, flows, flow emails, and briefs the assistant has created or opened show up grouped by type. Select one to open it in the panel.
Use the back arrow to return from a run or item to the activity list, and close the panel when you are done.
Queued messages
Section titled “Queued messages”You do not have to wait for the assistant to finish. Send another message while it is still replying and it joins a queue below the message box, labeled Up next or Queued. Each queued message is sent in order once the current reply completes. Change your mind? Click Undo on any queued item to pull it back before it sends.
When something fails
Section titled “When something fails”If a reply cannot finish, the turn is marked as failed and shows a short reason. You get actions on the failed turn:
- Retry resends the same message.
- Edit puts the message back in the message box so you can change it before sending again.
Retry, edit, or Discard failed turn before sending a brand new message.
A reply whose connection dies part way through is marked interrupted, and the transcript tells you that any changes it already made are saved - so if MX had already written a document or campaign, that work is still there.
